The IPS Event is all about promoting sport pony breeding in the UK. It is an established fact that in the UK we have some of the best performance pony breeding in the world. What the industry has sadly lacked is any form of focus and method of progression.
The continental breeders and producers have been working collaboratively for many years and they have overtaken the UK industry in production standards, public image and perceived quality.
The best riders in the world have all started their careers on ponies! Surely with the Olympics looming it is time to focus on the up and coming young riders and the ponies they ride. We have the quality, now let’s get together to share ideas and move the industry forward to its rightful place on the leaderboard.
Producers need to talk to the breeders of the ponies they and their clients need. Breeders need to talk to riders, producers and team selection personnel about what is expected in the modern competition pony. With vendors, buyers, producers and studs right here at the IPS event, the industry has an open forum for debate and discussion and perhaps the seeds of collaborative ventures can be sown…
Throughout Friday 2nd October there will be the opportunity to see the best from the sport pony studs in the showcase animals, and to gain insight into the current market with the auction lots from well bred broodmares and proven competition ponies to elite 3 and 4 year olds heading for the top of their sport.
- All breeds and their part-breds up to 158cm are included
- All 3 and 4 year old ponies bought at the IPS Auction are eligible for the IPS £1000 challenge, to be presented in 2010
