Helpful hints
Nervous about selling at an auction? Don?t be!
Here is the IPS quick guide to how an auction works and top tips for selling your horse or pony. Don?t forget members of our helpful and knowledgeable team will be on hand to guide you through the simple process.
- If you have not already done so, please download an entry form or phone the office on 01248 422386 to have forms sent to you in the post.
- On this form we will ask if you want to put a reserve on the animal - this is optional and is usually the minimum price you will accept. This is not disclosed to buyers.
- Please keep your descriptions brief and factual and include the registration number(s) of any affiliated body eg. BSPS, BE, BD, BSJA. Include details of any winnings to date
- All horses/ponies are sold according to the general Terms and Conditions of Sale
- On arrival at the stable security gate we will present you with your lot numbers and matching stable numbers in exchange for your horse/pony?s passport. The lot number must be firmly affixed and is not to be removed until the horse/pony is off the premises - whether sold or unsold.
- If you have last minute details relating to your sale please ensure the Auctioneers are aware of them - ask IPS staff to pass on these details if you are unable to speak to them directly.
- When your horse/pony is sold and if the purchaser wishes to have it vetted, you must be present in case any problems are found and the lot fails the vet inspection. In this case, the sale will fall through and you will need to obtain a Not Sold pass from the office
- If, unfortunately your horse/pony does not sell, you will need to obtain a Not Sold pass from the office to be able to remove the animal from the premises. Your passport will be returned to you upon receipt of the Not Sold pass at the stable security gate
