Helpful hints
Nervous about selling at an auction? Don’t be!
Here is our quick guide to how an auction works and top tips for selling your pony or ponies. Don’t forget members of our helpful and knowledgeable team will be on hand to guide you through the simple process.
- If you have not already done so, please download an entry form or phone the office on
01248 422386 to have forms sent to you in the post. - On this form we will ask if you want to put a reserve on the animal - this is the minimum price you will accept. This is not disclosed to buyers.
- Please keep your descriptions brief and factual and include the registration number(s) of any affiliated body eg. BSPS, BE, BD, BSJA. Include details of any winnings to date
- All ponies are sold according to our general Terms and Conditions of Sale
- On arrival at the stable security gate we will present you with your lot number and matching stable number in exchange for your pony’s passport. The lot number must be firmly affixed and displayed on the bridle and is not to be removed until the pony is off the premises - whether sold or unsold.
- If you have last minute details relating to your sale please ensure the auctioneer is aware of them - ask IPS staff to pass on these details if you are unable to speak to them directly.
- When your pony is sold and if the purchaser wishes to have it vetted, you must be present in case any problems are found and the lot fails the vet. In this case, the sale will fall through and you will need to obtain a Not Sold pass from the office
- If, unfortunately your pony does not sell, you will need to obtain a Not Sold pass from the office to be able to remove the animal from the premises. Your passport will be returned to you upon receipt of the Not Sold pass at the stable security gate
