1 Watch the ponies perform on Friday, meet the sellers and by arrangement have a trial ride
2 Check the veterinary certificates (every ridden pony will have one) and the warranty sheet
3 Examine the pony’s passport for breeding details and other information
On Saturday come back and watch again, make sure you pick up a bidders number from the Sale Information Desk

5 Bid on your choice
Within 30 minutes of the hammer falling you may request a further vetting if desired; there will be facilities for 2/5 stage and full X-rays available
If the lot you are interested in comes out of the ring unsold, you may, with the help of IPS staff negotiate outside the ring.
6 Find transport for your new pony and take it home (list of transporters available, ask at the Sale Information Desk)
