The primary object of the IPS is to open dialogue between breeders, producers, trainers and riders. The British Sport Horse and Pony industries lack the sophistication and coordination of the Europeans.
Pony Team selectors across the disciplines find it harder each year to find ponies of the required quality, experience and ability; and there are a great number of breeders, successful and otherwise, lamenting the lack of experienced producers available to take on their stock and develop to the full.
What is the IPS Event ?
- An annual event to provide a forum for breeders, producers, riders and trainers across the disciplines to showcase and sell their animals
- To open constructive dialogue to compare/discuss/assess bloodlines, breeding policies, training systems and rider education in the UK
- To provide a professionally run auction for sports horses and pony all-rounders as well as potential horse and pony stars of the future.
- To increase confidence in using a public auction of this standard as a main market, as is done to great effect in mainland Europe and Ireland.
Why do we need the IPS ?
- The Europeans have an open dialogue the British lack, combined with thorough breeding policies and an enviable production system. Europe has been using outstanding British bloodlines to beat us for decades. It’s time for change !
- For too long it has been nigh-on impossible for riders to find a quality, well produced, well bred, experienced pony, whilst breeders find it harder still to find riders to take their stock and produce them to the level they are breeding for.
- The prime objective of the IPS is to improve communication between breeder and producer/competitor and to promote the stock available on UK home soil.
